It’s not often you receive feedback to make your work “uglier” and are told it’s looking “just a little too nicely designed”.

For HGTV’s New Year’s week special event, we were asked to create two custom graphics packages and a week’s worth of promos and elements for Ugliest House in America and My Lottery Dream Home.

We intentionally designed a mismatched, gaudy graphics package for Ugliest House in America. For My Lottery Dream Home, we created the same set of elements, but this time we made them elevated, sleek and stylish.

This is just one of many creatives in the special event. Coming up with “Reno-lutions” based on the ugly houses featured was one of many fun parts about this job.
